The third mix is from Kasimyn. An eclectic, energetic mix that in Kasimyn's own words has 'no particular theme except smashing whatever song I like into some kind a nice order. Not for club for sure..' Kasimyn is a Bali-via-North-Jakarta based producer and DJ and is one half of the duo Gabber Modus Operandi.
Fact magazine have cited him as "stylistically a mayhem of anti-aesthetic fun" for his CTM closing set in 2019. His other mixes have landed on Boiler Room Global Hard Dance Mix no 9 and RinseFM, travelling and sharing decks with forward thinking selectors like Tzusing, Nkisi and Badsista.
He has released on Yesnowave, a seminal experimental chamber that birthed Zoo, Senyawa and Raja Kirik and more.
His latest productions as Gabber Modus Operandi, with Ican Harem, were releasd by the strong Shanghai label SVBKVLT. He has also recently remixed Aisha Devi and received support from Bjork, Bill Kouligas, Badsista and others.
Kasimyn has been involved in the intimate underground like Yesnoklub & ChaosNonMusica Indonesia, We Are Neghbourhood Thailand, Nusasonic South East Asia (where their debut outburst) aswell as global festivals like CTM Berlin 2019 & 2020, Unsound Krakow, Nyege-Nyege Festival Uganda to Dark Mofo Australia.
After smashing hardcore onto Pelog & Slendro - the pentatonic old scales of Java - in the last two Gabber Modus Operandi releases alongside briliant Jakarta based Wahono from Divisi 62 they were commissioned by CTM 2020 with Nyege Nyege Festival to collaborate with Nakibembe Troupe from Jinja, Uganda with their ultra rare giant homemade xylophone that expected to be release on the end of the year.
Holding local duty as one of the founders of Banjar Campout, a family oriented nature-seeker rave camp celebrating local talent in Bali he also founder of Rekam Jejak, a small collective that presents the fresh, furthest ideas of Indonesia contemporary music that have hosted singular acts like Senyawa and Filastine. He keeps himself busy as selector Kasimyn, Gabber Modus Operandi or other alias like Hulubalang or Sing Liyane.
He never has a fixed style except for having fun and somehow believing that there is a connecting dot between the most contemporary sound to the most primal traditional form of sound without boring and rigid tags like east, west or world music. The only criteria being 'can I dance to it (?) or can I go crazy with it (?) in my head'.
